Are your cleaning technicians self employed?

No. We employ our cleaners and as our customer you do not take on any employer responsibilities.

Which areas do you service?

We cover Harrogate, Wetherby, Knaresborough, Ripon, Boroughbridge and the surrounding areas.

Are you a franchise?

No, however we may look like one as we are just as professional. But we have the freedom to provide you with a more customised service and our prices are usually lower than the franchises.

Do your cleaning staff speak English?

Yes, absolutely all our employees and domestic cleaners must be able to read and speak English because we offer a customised cleaning for our customers. We also do not use illegal labour.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No! You can cancel your service without having to give weeks (or even a week) of notice. However we do have short notice cancellation charges for cancellations that are within 2 working days of your scheduled house clean.

Do you reward referrals?

Yes! We have a great reward program providing you with free home cleans as your reward. Click here for more details.

Do I have to be at home during the service?

No. We hold keys for most of our clients and alarm codes as required. Our employees are carefully screened and background checked. The team leader of the cleaning team has access to the key on the day of the clean only. If having maid service is to free your time up, why would you tie yourself down waiting in for the cleaning team?

How do I pay you?

For repeat cleaning service we accept cash or cheque on the day, which is left for the cleaning team to collect. Cheques should be made payable to Magic Maid. The cleaning team will leave a receipt and feedback slip.

What if I’m not satisfied with the clean?

We stand by a 300% satisfaction guarantee! If you are unhappy with the standard of the clean, please inform us within 24 hours and we will happily come back to fix and re-clean the unsatisfactory area as soon as possible. If you are still not satisfied we will return again to re-clean the area at no additional cost to you. In the unlikely event that we cannot satisfy you after two re-cleans we will refund your money and donate the same amount to your chosen charity.

What is included for your Empty House Top to Bottom Deluxe Cleaning Service?

The Focus is on Build up and Hi/Lo cleaning:

  • Wipe all counters/appliances including inside microwave
  • Scrub sinks
  • Open all cabinets, drawers and cupboards to wipe clean
  • Thoroughly vac and mop all bare/hard floors especially where appliances were
  • Vac all carpeted areas including inside all closets
  • Clean and disinfect all bathrooms (wipe out cabinets and drawers, special attention to build up)
  • Clean and disinfect kitchen & Utility (special attention to build up)
  • Hand wash light fixtures in place (Those that cannot be reached with a small step will be dusted off with an extension duster)
  • Hand wash all skirting boards
  • Hand wash fronts of all cupboards in kitchen and bathroom

Why are some cleaning services cheaper than others?

Because they should be! Using the underground market of illegitimate individuals, house cleaners and companies may seem less expensive, but in the long run it really is not. Our prices are what they are because these are the costs involved running a fully legitimate domestic cleaning company, paying and rewarding staff fairly.

Another important fact to check is if the cleaning company employs its staff or is using a loophole by making their ‘employees’ self employed, thereby avoiding employers NI contributions and other employer responsibilities. If it is the later you are strongly advised to speak to the Inland Revenue directly to find if you will be taking the responsibility as the employer of the cleaner. After all, when you read the small print these types of companies are simply introduction agencies.

We love pets, we’ll treat them as our own. Any special instructions can be taken, and will be added to your work order instructions so that our cleaners know exactly what they should do.

What if I need some extra tasks or services?

We’re not a franchise-we can do what you want. Just call the day before to make your special requests and we will quote you a price for the additional time. Ovens, fridge, polishing silver? Yes!

What do I need to do before the clean?

Normal pricing is worked on averages, which assume areas will be picked up and fairly tidied. We basically straighten and neaten areas, plump cushions etc. However if extra tidying and sorting is required we are happy to do it but please make this known at the time of the estimate (or if your situation changes later). Washing-up would be classed as the day to day activities which we assume normally we would not be doing. Most customers prefer us there to tackle the more important weekly or bi-weekly cleaning. Again we are happy to take care of this, but please make this known as extra time will be required to deal with a sink full of last night’s cooking pots.

Should I have a spring cleaning every year?

Many of our clients do have a Top to Bottom Deluxe Cleaning annually to maintain those out-of-reach places that are not a part of the normal, weekly or bi-weekly routine. It’s less expensive than the first time Deluxe cleaning because the rest of the house is already at maintenance level if we are servicing your home!
